well its an aesthetic that can be integrated into fashion. with the help of menhera chan created by entry/178259 it become a lot more popular! the style mainly comes from yume kawaii, a dreamy fashion style thats overall cute! and from the looks of it alternative fashion and anti-kawaii.
There are a lot of dark motifs in yami kawaii that can be incorporated in an outfit. dark messages and art are often seen on shirts. bandages, sickly looking makeup, gas masks and syringes are also used as accessories. as you can see there are a lot of medical themes!
This style is often mixed up with gurokawa a darker fashion style with its popular mascot gloomy bear. its more associated with gore, eyeballs, bones and blood while yami kawaii is a more cutesy version with pink blood and disturbingly cute illustrations.
